A Commitment to Education on the Elbe Islands Bildungslandschaft Elbinseln e.V.

The Bildungslandschaft Elbinseln e.V. (Elbe Islands Education Landscape) association has set itself the goal of supporting educational work on the Elbe islands of Wilhelmsburg and Veddel. The focus of the association's work is to promote the new educational establishments and networks that have been formed under the Elbe Islands Education Drive, as part of the IBA Hamburg. These include the Gateway to the World Education Centre, the Centre of Language and Exercise, the MEDIA DOCK, the House of Projects, and the Learning by Doing network.

It also promotes and supports the planning and implementation of projects that facilitate the social and professional integration of young people, women, and older long-term unemployed citizens of German and foreign descent. Such efforts include language classes, media training opportunities, music and theatre projects, sports and exercise activities, cultural education initiatives, and health promotion projects.

The association supports the regional education conference on the Elbe islands. This brings together all of the groups and committees involved in local education, and helps to strengthen cooperation between educational institutions and tailor opportunities to the needs of local people. Institutions work together on issues such as improving the transition from the day nursery to primary school, and ensuring that young people can find a training place after leaving school.
