Documentation of the IBA laboratory Port - Logistics - City
The laboratory was held on Friday, 23 Nov. 2007 and Saturday, 24 Nov. 2007.

The IBA laboratory “Port – Logistics – City” developed concepts for handling port traffic in city-friendly ways that will remain viable in the future. Hamburg port provides a first-hand experience of the effects of globalized trade and manufacturing relations. The growing need for space for logistics companies and container traffic leads to conflicts between the port and the objective of town planning, which is to create a liveable environment. The international participants at the meeting examined development scenarios for goods traffic before looking more closely at the following four workshop topics:

• Efficient logistics
• Traffic management
• Integrating transit routes into town planning
• Integrating logistics sites into town planning

Public debating forum: Port traffic and urban development. The IBA laboratory Port – Logistics – City invited the general public to a debating forum on the Saturday evening. People with an interest in the topic – residents or members of associations and institutions - were invited to discuss port traffic and urban development with members of the academic community and planners, with representatives from logistics firms, administration and government.
